Changing of the guards

by Nathan Hague on 07/07/2012

The NBA’s recent news has been circulated around point guards. We all know Deron Williams chose the Nets over the Mavs, Steve Nash signed a huge deal (three years, $27 million) and Jason Kidd signed with the Knicks (three years, $9 million). The Kidd signing begs the question of what the Knicks will do with Jeremy Lin, who has an offer from the Houston Rockets. Jason Terry also signed a contract with the Boston Celtics and Ray Allen signed with the Heat.

My last post was written the day before Williams re-signed with the Nets and that decision is one which will ultimately kill the Mavs.

Trade rumors are circulating around Lakers’ guard Ramon Sessions, stating he might become a Maverick but regardless, it will take a lot more than that for Mark Cuban to win the trust and respect back from the fans. The team now has all this money but nothing to buy with it.

What are your thoughts? Who should the Mavericks work on signing? Are you willing to wait another year for a big named point guard like Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul or someone else of that magnitude?

Mavs fans have a tough year ahead seeing as there’s nothing big to look forward to and they just took a huge risk; a risk they’ll by paying for over the next several years.
